Go to Jail

When you are in Ireland, you want to be sure to go to jail.  You don’t want to get arrested, but you do want to visit the Kilmainham Gaol Historical Museum in Dublin.  This museum is at the site of a notorious jail.  The jail is well known in Ireland because of its treatment of prisoners.  Now, you can go on a guided tour and learn about the history, which is remarkable.  Even though this site is a little out of the way, it is worth the stop.  You will be able to go on one of the best tours in Ireland when you visit this historic jail.

Join the Rebellion

After a trip to jail, it’s time to get in on the rebellion.  In 1916, there was an uprising in Dublin, and the 1916 Rebellion Walking Tour will take you to all of the landmarks relevant to that uprising.  It is a two hour tour that is very informative and fun.  You will learn everything about the uprising in a way that is incredibly enjoyable.  Through the tour, you will be able to see how the uprising came about, and you will also learn how it ended.

Go Back in Time at the Pub

After jail and an uprising, it’s time for a drink.  Go to the Antique Tavern in Enniscorthy.  You will get to see a tavern from the old days, and you can also mix with the locals and have a drink.  This is a great place to go for a little history along with some food and alcohol.
